Early Life.

Meghna Gulzar is a Bollywood film director and writer who made her directorial debut with critically acclaimed movie, Filhaal in which starred Sushmita Sen , Tabu , Sanjay Suri and Palash Sen in pivot roles. Filhaal was one of the earliest Bollywood movies which dealt with the delicate subject of surrogate mother, though similar attempts have been made in regional languages before.

Though the movie was not a huge success, she earned acclamations through her debut movie. She is the daughter of actress Raakhee Gulzar and lyricist Gulzar , who has been most recently announced as Dada sahib phalke award winner - She was born in 13 December in a filmy family. She is the daughter of famous yesterday star Rakhee, known for the movies like Black mail, Muquaddar ke Sikander and Sharmilee.

Her father Gulzar is a doyen of Indian film industry, known as a screenwriter, director and lyricist, one of the most influential figures of Indian cinema. Meghna started her writing journey as a freelancer where she wrote for The Times of India and Cinema.

She also wrote poems and got them published in anthologies of the Poetry Society of India. She has also published one biopic of her father titled, Because He Is After graduation, she worked as assistant director under film maker, Saeed Akhtar Mirza. Then she went abroad to do a short term course in Film making in New York. Once returned she worked under her father as an assistant and made her debut movie, Filhaal in Her second movie, Just married was released in which was a moderate success at box office.
